It wouldn’t really be Watches & Wonders without talking about our yearly, marginal updates from Rolex. Surprisingly, this time it looks like the leaks on social media were actually credible, and Rolex’s first big headliner is something people will be talking about no matter what. Love it or hate it, Rolex has announced a new version of the GMT Master II that makes it the fourth available Oystersteel model next to the other color options we’ve had for a bit. The Rolex GMT Master II 126710GRNR takes the familiar black dial variant and adds a newer black and gray Cerachrom bezel, which we first saw in 2023 on the “Rolessor” 126713GRNR.

I find this interesting since basically it shows us that we got with 2007’s 116710LN just won’t die. Sure, people go nuts for bezels and vintage-correct designs, but some folks just want a black sports watch. I love that they hung on to the green accents on some of the dial text and the GMT hand itself. While it’ll be easy to make fun of in the watch blogging world, I think this watch is poised to be immensely successful for Rolex and as a former Batman GMT Master II owner, I’m almost digging this a little more than the blue and black. I also wasn’t necessarily expecting a new “Blueberry” or “Coke” GMT Master from Rolex this year so I’m not too upset about this.

The movement inside the Rolex GMT Master II 126710GRNR is the Rolex Caliber 3285. It delivers 70 hours of power reserve, the ability to track multiple time zones with ease, and COSC certification. Along the dial we have the usual touches of applied white gold indexes and Chromolight on the hands and hour markers. The watch can be ordered either on Rolex’s Oyster or Jubilee stainless steel bracelet options.

This honestly might be my favorite new version of the Rolex GMT. It’s subtle, flies under the radar, and offers enough visual interest to the point where it isn’t boring. As with any new steel Rolex release, I suspect these will be very difficult to secure for a very long time. Now, the only thing we need to settle is what kind of nickname this new GMT Master II gets. I already heard someone call it … the Bruce Wayne. I can get behind that.

You can learn more about the new Rolex GMT Master II 126710GRNR and compare it to the other Oystersteel models on Rolex’s official site.
