Mike and Kaz talk about some of the cooler watches that slipped through the cracks during their usual Basel World 2018 press coverage. There are some cool finds under $1,000 and a few that might have the Snobs saving their pennies very soon. Guess they’ll have to turn to writing cheap Amazon erotica to fund the watch budget.

Also, Two Broke Watch Snobs is now officially established as a legal business entity! Thank you to all the listeners that helped with advice and guidance. This show and this site would be nothing without you.

Finally, Mike buys a Vostok and the guys talk about the best ways to approach watch selections while travelling abroad. It’s a fun filled episode and this is a topic where the community would love to hear from you! How do you pick watches when travelling to a foreign country? Beaters or blinged-out Pateks?! Press play, enjoy, and let your voice be heard.

  1. Actually, travelling got me into watches. I didn’t want to pull out my phone all the time and risk me dropping it or it being stolen. My watch obsession started with a Timex Expedition I bought to go to Europe. I chose it at Target because it had 12/24 time. This is really helpful because buses, trains, and planes are in usually 24 hour time over there. Obviously, the math isn’t rocket science. But, the jet lag and extra stress of being in a foreign country makes the mind foggy. For my last trip (Sicily, Italy), I brought a Casio “Royale” for the plane and days I wouldn’t be travelling in Sicily. I brought a Seiko SNZG because of the 12/24 time, day/date, and lume, which I wore most of the trip, especially when travelling to another town. Also, I brought an Orient Esteem because it made me feel I was dressing up even though I had a limited number of clothes. I used your sock trick for packing — genius!

    • Oh, man – those are actually really good ideas for travel watches in general – esp the timex with 12/24 time. It’s pretty cool also to see that you were really looking for something that would have practical support for you while traveling. Usually when I’m traveling I want to try and figure out what watch will *look* cool and not get me mugged lol.

Dude, right?? The sock thing is killer lol
