Ep. #55 – Affordable Vintage Watches Part 4
All podcasts should start with an inordinate amount of pet vomit talk, right? Well Mike and Kaz think so! This week’s wristcheck has mike discovering an oldie, but a goodie in the back of a drawer. And Kaz has a final, bittersweet goodbye to a trusty JDM GMT… but another shall take its place!
Also, cool news in the watch world with the faithful Timex Marlin reissue (manual wind for $200!) and more.
Finally, Kaz and Mike each select three of their own top choices for an affordable vintage dress watch. They go head to head, offer some buying tips, and find a striking and very cool similarity between each of their final choices.
Then the snobs come to the topic at hand – affordable vintage with a particular focus on dress watches. Each chose 3 pieces and took turns talking about their choices, detailing buying tips, what to look for, and more. Some of the choices are pretty different, but then some are surprisingly similar.

Kaz has been collecting watches since 2015, but he’s been fascinated by product design, the Collector’s psychology, and brand marketing his whole life. While sharing the same strong fondness for all things horologically-affordable as Mike (his TBWS partner in crime), Kaz’s collection niche is also focused on vintage Soviet watches as well as watches that feature a unique, but well-designed quirk or visual hook.
