For a while now, there’s been a pretty simple ask floating around among Citizen fans. More of what the brand already does well, just scaled down for smaller wrists. Promaster watches have always carried credibility, but their dimensions have often pushed them into huge tool-first territory rather than daily wear. A 39.5mm Promaster Land GMT changes that conversation in a very real way. Honestly, I got very excited the moment I saw this thing on Plus9Time.
For 2026, Citizen USA has announced the Citizen Promaster Land GMT BJ7150-50W, a travel-oriented tool watch that stays firmly rooted in the brand’s utilitarian identity. The focus here is clarity, durability, and practical functionality, presented in a size that is likely to work for a much broader audience. Seriously though, don’t get me started on some of these press photos.
The 39.5mm stainless steel case is rated to 200 meters of water resistance and topped with a curved sapphire crystal treated with anti-reflective coating. The watch meets ISO standards, reinforcing its place within the Promaster Land lineup rather than positioning it as a lifestyle offshoot. This is still a GMT watch built with real-world use in mind.
The dial is where the watch gets its personality. A textured red surface provides depth, while crisp white markers keep legibility front and center. Those markers are a big selling point for me and I’ve loved them ever since seeing them on earlier Promaster Tough models. An orange GMT hand adds contrast without overwhelming the layout, and a fixed 24-hour bezel reinforces the travel-focused design. A date window at three o’clock adds daily practicality while staying visually restrained. Now, this dial color isn’t for me, but my hope is that Citizen expands upon the platform with new color options. Throw in a full titanium version for good measure—and I’ll lose my mind.
Powering the watch is Citizen’s Eco-Drive GMT caliber B878, a flyer GMT movement fueled by light. As expected from the Eco-Drive system, the appeal is straightforward and functional. No battery changes, no charging routines, and no interruption to the watch’s role as a dependable travel companion.
The Citizen Promaster Land GMT is delivered on a stainless steel bracelet with a fold-over clasp and push buttons, and it arrives in Citizen’s familiar Promaster tackle box. Priced at $595, the BJ7150-50W sits comfortably within Citizen’s value-driven approach to tool watches. More importantly, it signals a meaningful shift in how the Promaster line can exist on the wrist. A smaller case size may not sound revolutionary on paper, but for many collectors, this is exactly the kind of release they’ve been waiting for.

Finally — I’ve been waiting for Citizen to release Promaster Land again! Love the fact that it includes GMT this time and keeps the screw shroud. The number ‘4’ looks a bit ‘off’.
But it’s not a REAL Promaster Land unless it’s made of the light, strong, and legendary Citizen Duratec Titanium. That’ll be something worth waiting for, which I would buy in a heartbeat
I feel the same way!
