Founded by two industry veterans, each with fifteen years of watchmaking experience, NEOTYPE embodies their shared passion for functional design and quality craftsmanship. Their new NEOTYPE LM02 Type C series starts at $574.
This latest release, the LM02 Type C, is a chronograph that commands attention with its blend of classic aesthetics, top-notch execution, and precision. The LM02 subtly nods to NEOTYPE’s debut model, the LM01, while introducing fresh, innovative elements. The watch features a sleek combination of sharp edges and curved lines, finished with finely brushed or sandblasted stainless steel. The familiar case silhouette has been refined and slimmed down, enhancing its character and delivering a modern, comfortable fit. The diameter is 41mm, case thickness is 13.8mm, lug-to-lug is 48.5mm, and there is a lug width of 22mm.
To me, the matte black dial achieves solid legibility in most lighting conditions. It has a finely grained “sandwich” construction, paired with hour markers and hands illuminated by Superluminova® BGW9 or Old Radium lume. This aims to exemplify the brand’s dedication to function-driven design.
While the LM02 is not a diver like the LM01, it seems to retain the ruggedness expected of a tool watch. With a screw-down crown, pushers, and case back, along with a sapphire crystal as thick as those on dive watches, the LM02 is water resistant up to 200m, making it ready for any adventure.
At its core, the LM02 houses the Seiko VK64 caliber, a Mecaquartz hybrid movement. This mechanism blends the precision of quartz with the tactile satisfaction of a mechanical chronograph. The bi-compax layout ensures legibility and balance, making it ideal for action.
