Earlier this month, Longines debuted a new non-limited version of their popular Spirit Zulu Time in Titanium. Back when the brand partnered with Hodinkee for an exclusive limited edition, folks were a bit critical of the fact that the watch seemed strikingly similar to the Tudor Black Bay Pro, a point of criticism that didn’t really concern me. It was a handsome watch, in my opinion, but I wasn’t a fan of the FOMO associated with the limited edition. Thankfully, if you were into the idea behind the watch, you now have the option to pick up a model that arguably looks a little more refined – with features like a grade 5 titanium case and bracelet, and a “true” GMT movement.

At 39mm in diameter, 13.5mm thick, and 46.8mm lug to lug, this new version retains the proportions that Longines enthusiasts have come to appreciate. However, the big story here is the weight—coming in at just 95.5 grams on its titanium bracelet, nearly 50% lighter than the steel version, making it incredibly comfortable for everyday wear.

One of the most striking features of this iteration is the two-tone ceramic bezel. Longines opted for a half-glossy, half-matte finish that adds a nice contrast to the overall look. The glossy black on top and matte black below, sometimes shifting to a dark gray, plays beautifully with the darker titanium case and the gilt accents on the watch’s hands and markers. It’s a design choice that feels both modern and timeless, reminiscent of some of the more iconic GMTs we’ve seen recently, yet distinctly Longines in execution.

Underneath the dial, the Longines Spirit Zulu Time in Titanium houses the ETA Caliber L844.4, a “true” GMT movement that offers an independently adjustable hour hand and a COSC-certified 72-hour power reserve. It’s a seemingly reliable movement that’s exclusive to Longines, ensuring that this watch isn’t just a pretty face but a solid performer as well.

While the titanium bracelet is the only option at launch, it features a quick-change system for easy swapping, though the micro-adjustment on the clasp still requires a tool. At $4,275, this new release feels like a well-rounded offering that blends functionality, durability, and a touch of luxury.

For fans of the Spirit Zulu Time series, this Titanium edition represents a culmination of what Longines does best—taking a winning formula and refining it just enough to keep us coming back for more.
