One of our hopes for Watches & Wonders 2024 was some kind of refresh to the Alpina Alpiner Extreme. Since Alpina unveiled the refreshed look for its Alpiner Extreme collection back in 2022, we’ve been seeing more releases following the same design language. But, the latest addition to this collection comes in the form of a series of new quartz models. These newcomers boast smaller cases, Swiss quartz movements, and a fresh array of dial colors.
Powering these models are reliable quartz movements, each sporting vibrant colors suitable for both men and women. The watches feature a compact 34mm × 35.24mm stainless steel case with a slim profile of only 8.35mm. With a three-part construction, these watches offer water resistance up to 100 meters and come equipped with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal.
Flip the watch over, and you’ll find the threaded stainless steel case back adorned with an Alpiner-pattern engraving, concealing the AL-220 caliber quartz movement with an impressive battery life of 45 months.
The Alpiner Extreme Quartz lineup offers four distinct variations to choose from. The first two options include a model with a pink dial paired with a stainless steel bracelet, and another featuring a green dial matched with a rubber strap. Both variants showcase a technical triangle motif on the dial and applied markers filled with luminous material for enhanced visibility.
Additionally, a date window sits neatly at 6 o’clock, while the silver hour and minute hands are generously filled with luminescent material. A subtle pop of color is added by the red counterweight on the seconds hand. The other two versions offer a choice between a beige or glacier blue dial.
The bracelet versions are priced at €1,195 and it drops to €995 for the version on the rubber strap. As a result, these smaller quartz models offer a more affordable alternative to their larger mechanical counterparts. Alpina’s decision to introduce these compact quartz models with eye-catching dial colors is a smart move. They cater to both women and men with smaller wrists, offering a versatile and appealing option that should attract a wider range of enthusiasts.
